Peter the Great was a very tall man. He was just under seven feet in height and this was at a time when the vast majority of men and women were well under six feet tall. This painting of Peter is interesting in that it shows how at least one artist dealt with the challenge of Peter's altitude. He placed Peter in front of the girl and appears to have had her stand on a log. Even then Peter is taller than she is. |
