The Church of Elijah the Prophet was built in 1647 and is said to occupy the very spot where legend has it that Prince Yaroslav the Wise wrestled a bear and won. Today the church is operated as a museum. The original frescos inside the church were painted in 1680 by two famous artists of the time - Savin and Nikitin. |
