One of the very best things that we did upon arrival in Kauai was to sign on for a helicopter tour of the island. It was expensive, but it was well worth the expense. There are a lot of outfits offering helicopter tours and we know nothing about any of them. We chose ours because of the recommendations of an experienced concierge. We were not disappointed in any way. The Hughes 500 that we rode in was well maintained, our experienced ex-military pilot was superb, and the tour was unforgettable. The fact that they did not have the doors on made the trip that much more exciting for my wife and made photography that much easier for me. My only regret is that we could not afford to spend the entire day up over the island.
