Shortly after embarkation the captain introduced the officers of the ship
and we settled into the routine of the ship.

Did I mention that the food and service
was suberb and the staff was delightful?

The organization of the people that ran the ship was interesting and relatively easy to figure out in as much as everybody wore a uniform. The Russian captain had two principal lieutenants. The Chief Engineer was his senior Russian crew member in charge of the operation of the ship. Although we sometimes passed in the corridor we did not have any direct dealings with any of the people who operated the vessel. The captain's other chief lieutenant was the Manager of the Hotel. He had several assistants. One directed the food service and the other was in charge of tours. Several of the key members of the staff were Western European professional hospitality careerists with considerable experience. We interacted with these folks regularly and they took excellent care of us.
