The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta has been going on since thirteen balloons got together in an Albuquerque parking lot in 1972. It has grown since then and is now the biggest balloon event in the world. Over a thousand balloons competed in 2000. Today the number is limited to seven hundred fifty. It is a spectacular show that has a number of different events including some at night. An absolute must see - highly recommended, but be sure to plan ahead. Crowds of up to 100,000 people show up for the events.
