Fallon

In 1896 Mike and Eliza Fallon established a ranch and post office in the area of present day Fallon and, at the turn of the century, Jim Richards opened a store nearby. In those days the area was known as Jim's Town. President Theodore Roosevelt signed the first Reclamation Act in 1902 and Fallon became the center for a number of government sponsored construction projects in the area. In 1903 Fallon was made the county seat for Churchill County. In succeeding years, agriculture grew in importance. In 1942, the United States Navy built the Fallon Naval Air Station. Today Fallon is a large town with a good many tourist oriented facilities located at the intersection of two important highways - 50 and 95.
