Kauai - One Artist's View

These paintings that we found hanging in a small restaurant in Kauai seem to address the obvious issue of tourism in paradise. How much is enough? When is it too much? What do we do about it? Kauai is a perfect example of the conundrum. Like in so many other pristine corners of this world, visitors are the lifeblood of the economy. They are sincerely welcome and simultaneously feared. It is getting to the point where I am almost ashamed of adding the weight of my own visit to the burden of those increasingly few bits of paradise that still exist around this ever smaller world. Hopefully, we will not crush them out of existence too rapidly.
