A Trip to Russia - St. Petersburg - Hermitage - Spring

A two headed eagle is prominent in both the Imperial Coat of Arms and the current coat of arms for the Russian Federation. The two headed eagle has also been found in Russia on Mongol coinage dating from the fourteenth century. It has been used by the Holy Roman Empire and by Byzantium as well as by the Hittites at least nine centuries before Christ was born.
